38-0: can you win every match of the season?

38-0 is a squad-building football game. You pick a league, roll the dice and land on a random club. From that club's current squad you choose one player for a free spot in your team. Roll again, pick again, until your XI is complete. Then the whole season is played: every matchweek, every result and a full league table.

Every player comes from this season's real squads in six leagues, so a summer signing appears at his new club. Every player shows his rating while you draft, so the challenge is making the most of the clubs the dice gives you. A perfect season in a 20-team league is 38 wins from 38 matches; in the 18-team Bundesliga, Ligue 1 and Süper Lig it is 34-0.

How to play 38-0

  1. Choose a league and a mode. Classic is 11 players with a formation of your choice (4-3-3, 4-4-2, 4-2-3-1, 3-5-2, 3-4-3 or 5-3-2). Five-a-side is a keeper and four outfield players.
  2. Roll the dice. The dice lands on a club from that league. You have three re-rolls per game if you don't like the draw.
  3. Pick a player. Choose anyone from the club's current squad who fits an empty spot. Wingers can play in midfield or attack.
  4. Pick your manager. When the squad is full, choose one of three famous managers from that league. Attacking, defensive or balanced styles give a small boost, and more if your squad has players from his clubs. You can also drag players to swap positions within the same line.
  5. Play the season. Your team replaces the league's weakest squad and plays every other club home and away. Rivals are rated from their own best XI, minus the players you took from them.
  6. See your season. After the final matchweek you get your season at a glance: position, points, top scorer, biggest win, longest winning run and the full table. Share the card and try to beat it.

Frequently asked questions

How are player ratings calculated?

Ratings are Futbolle's own estimate: the strength of the player's club, how prominent he is in that squad and worldwide, and his age. They are not taken from any video game.

Is 38-0 actually possible?

Yes, but it is rare. You need a very strong XI and some luck: even great teams drop points against weaker sides now and then.

Why 34-0 in some leagues?

Bundesliga, Ligue 1 and the Süper Lig have 18 clubs, so a season is 34 matches. The game always uses each league's real number of matches.

Can I play more than once?

As many times as you like. 38-0 is not a daily puzzle; your best points total in each league is saved in your browser.

Is there a leaderboard?

Yes. Your team name goes on today's, this week's and the all-time leaderboard for each league; classic and five-a-side share one list. The server replays your game to check the score, so it cannot be faked.

Is it free?
