How to play Football Bingo with friends
A Bingo Room is Football Bingo played against other people. Everyone in the room gets the same card and the same queue of footballers in the same order — nobody draws an easier board. The whole game comes down to one thing: which square you put each player in.
Opening a room and filling it
One person creates the room and gets a short code. Everyone else types that code or opens the invite link, picks a name, and walks in. A room holds up to 12 players — past that the leaderboard stops being readable. When the host starts, a 15-second countdown runs, which is long enough for anyone who wandered into another tab to come back. Nothing to install and no account to create: the room is just a link.
The card, the queue and your ten seconds
Once the game starts, everyone sees the same board of categories and the same run of footballers. You get 10 seconds per player. If the clock runs out the card is spent — exactly the same outcome as pressing SKIP. Everyone moves at their own pace though: you can be on player 12 while someone else is still on player 8. There is deliberately no shared round timer, because that would make the whole room wait for its slowest player, and in a strategy game waiting is fatal.
The entire game is one decision
A player who fits several squares can still only go in one of them. Your opponents are looking at that same footballer at the same moment, facing the same dilemma. Filling the easy square feels good, but that player may have been the only candidate a narrow category was ever going to get, and nobody else in the queue will replace him. The rule worth internalising: a player who fits several squares is a resource, not a relief — spend him on the rarest category he fits.
Traps and the SKIP button
Some footballers in the queue fit no square at all. That is design, not an oversight: without traps, skipping would not be a move, it would just be giving up. Hunting for a home for a player who has none burns ten seconds and a card, so when a name means nothing to you, skipping fast is usually the right play.
Scoring and the leaderboard
- Every correct placement is worth 3 points. A wrong placement costs no points but still spends the card.
- Ties are broken by cards used. On equal points, the player who spent fewer cards finishes higher — accuracy outranks speed.
- Filling the whole card is a BINGO and is called out separately on the results screen.
- Waiting never wins. The clock spends the card for you, so hesitation is the most expensive mistake in the room.
Where answers get checked
Which footballer fits which square is held on the server only and is never sent to the browser. In a competitive game that matters: you cannot solve the card by reading the page source. Squad and trophy data comes from Wikipedia, photos from TheSportsDB.
If you would rather play alone
Football Bingo gives you the same board as a daily solo puzzle: one attempt a day, a fresh board at your local midnight. If your group wants something turn-based there is Football Tic-Tac-Toe, and if they want a pure speed race there is the Live Room.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do you play football bingo with friends?
Create a room to get a short code, then send that code or the invite link to your friends. When the game starts everyone sees the same category board and the same queue of footballers. You get 10 seconds per player and place him in exactly one square. Whoever makes the most correct placements wins.
Does everyone really get the same card?
Yes. The card and the player queue are generated once for the room and handed to everyone in the same order, so nobody gets an easier board. The only difference between players is the decisions they make.
How many people can play in one room?
Up to 12. The limit is about readability rather than capacity — beyond that the live leaderboard becomes impossible to follow.
What if a player fits more than one square?
You can only use him once, and that choice is the whole game. A tip: broad categories like big clubs come round again, narrow ones like a specific trophy or a small country may not — so spend versatile players on the tight squares.
Do I need an account, and how long does a room stay open?
No account — you just type a name and join. Rooms are temporary: if the host leaves the room closes, and idle rooms expire on their own after a few hours. Opening a fresh one takes seconds.
